    Druzhkovsky petrified trees
    Druzhkovsky petrified trees - geological natural monuments of national importance. Located in the Constantine region of Donetsk region near the town and village Druzhkivka Alekseyevo-Druzhkivka.

    Trees - Araucaria age of about 250 million years. They grew up in a forest carbon geological period, then the hurricane were uprooted and fell into a river. In water, the trees were not in contact with air and therefore do not decompose. Over time, on-site forest formed sea. Druzhkovsky petrified trees found under the thickness of sedimentary rocks, but the sea water leaked out to them. Seawater washed from the trunks of organic matter, instead of them in the trunks of accumulated minerals. Lithification lasted thousands of years.

    We Druzhkovsky petrified trees are easily distinguished cellular structure of plants, if we consider the thin slices of trunks in the microscope. Externally, the petrified trees similar to the freshly sawed, only much heavier than wood and visible crystals of quartz. The site is a very rare phenomenon in the world.
